At Building Approval Specialists, we provide expert building surveying and regulatory advice to help bring construction projects to life - efficiently, compliantly, and with confidence. Founded by James Cunning, a registered building surveyor with over 10 years of extensive industry experience and located in Bendigo, Victoria, our team is committed to delivering clear, practical guidance throughout the building approval process.

We work across residential projects throughout Victoria, assisting architects, designers, builders, and property owners to navigate Victoria's building regulations and codes.

Our ethos is simple: it's easier to adjust and get things right at the plan check stage rather than to try and fix them later on site. We prioritise thorough initial assessments to ensure that once ground is broken, your project runs as smoothly and cost effectively as possible.

Please note that if you are undertaking your project as an owner-builder, you are assuming a greater level of responsibility. This includes ensuring that you fully understand and obtain all required documentation for the building permit application. You are also responsible for having the necessary knowledge to manage construction processes and to ensure compliance with the building permit and all approved documentation. As your appointed building surveyor, our role does not extend to project management, as this is prohibited under the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018 (Victoria).
